- Broccoli, Cauliflower and Kale help the body break down harmful forms of estrogen.
- Onions, Leeks, Chives, Garlic, and Shallots help detoxify the liver.
- Chili Peppers reduce the risk of high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. They also curb food cravings, especially for sweets.

/ August 16, 2010Annie,
I am basically in love with kale (serious addiction) and had no idea of the health benefits it offered. Cool!
Thankfully I am a fan of and eat all of the things you listed. The hotter the pepper the more the Chef and I are consuming!!
Happy Monday!

/ August 17, 2010Great post, Annie…short, sweet, but definitely full of GREAT info!
I used to take a indole-3 carbinol (the substance in broccoli, cauliflower, and kale which fight excess estrogen in the body) supplement as I was found to have excess estrogen in my body. It did a wonderful job to balance me out.
