Sibu Beauty

In a previous post, I talked about the drinkable form of Sibu Beauty, which is not only an excellent beauty-enhancing product, but it actually tastes good too. Now after trying several of their topical products, I wanted to share my thoughts with you lovely ladies.

Well first off, everything is paraben-free and cruelty-free. In addition, none of their products contain dairy, wheat, gluten, sodium, yeast or preservatives. The main ingredient in this line is the super berry sea buckthorn, which is sourced through fair trade agreements with local harvesters in Tibet (an effort the Dalai Lama has taken notice of).

My favorite product of theirs right now is the Sea Buckthorn Age Defying Eye Cream, which features sea buckthorn and pumpkin seed. This botanical blend is the perfect trifecta – it reduces puffiness, dark circles and fine lines.  Personally, I often find that eye creams seem to irritate that ultra sensitive area, but I’ve been using this one for weeks with no complaints. It’s a perfect consistency, easily absorbs into the skin and as with most eye creams, a little goes a long way. I’m so happy to have found this eye cream because I was getting concerned after so many natural eye creams irritated me!

I also love the Cleanse & Detox Facial Soap (a very sweet, earthy scent and gently exfoliating) and the Body Cream (a bright, citrus scent and a perfectly creamy consistency).

Has anyone tried any of Sibu’s products yet?

Check out their current sweepstakes & gift redemptions (currently, they’re offering a FREE full-sized Sea Buckthorn Oil Treatment Serum at GNC stores after sending in the provided rebate form)

Yogurt 101

Some of the basics & benefits of yogurt:

  • If you want to avoid high sugar content just go with plain! Even the plain varieties naturally have 12 g of sugar. The sweetened have up to 35 g!
  • Greek yogurt, which is much thicker, can contain up to twice the protein of a non-Greek brand, but it has less calcium.
  • Yogurt contains probiotics, which is healthy bacteria. Probiotics are linked with a healthy digestive system and a stronger immune systems.
  • Do not drain out that top watery layer! That liquid is pure protein (specifically whey protein).
  • Some of my favorite additions to plain yogurt: a drizzle of honey (a prebiotic which encourages the activity of probiotics), walnuts, fresh berries, sliced banana, and wheat germ.
  • Since yogurt has probiotics, a lot of people that are lactose intolerant do not have issues with consuming it!

There’s no going back

Once I drank organic milk (many years ago), I really never considered going back to drinking non-organic milk. The difference between a glass of regular whole milk and organic whole milk is just so undeniably different.  A glass of whole organic milk is so delicious and creamy, it really tastes like a treat. Even the non-fat, 1%, or 2% organic milks are so much better tasting and creamier than regular versions. Personally, I always felt like I was drinking a mix of water and milk when I drank a lot of common brands of non-fat milk. But that’s just me. One of my favorite organic milks is produced by Organic Valley.

This is a great company that also makes organic soy milk, organic lactose free milk, organic butter, and organic cheese!
