This is the start of a new series – Product of the Week – where I’ll highlight one of my latest favorite healthy products. Please let me know if you have any specific category requests!

Today’s pick is a face mask by Naturopathica. Naturopathica, founded by a clinical esthetician and herbalist, has quickly become one of my go-to lines for beauty products, especially face masks.

{via}

The Aloe Replenishment Gel has two desert succulents as its main ingredients – aloe and prickly pear cactus. I love that this mask goes on clear (just like aloe) and I found it gentle enough to leave on overnight. It’s a perfect choice for anyone who experiences redness, dryness and/or breakouts. It’s also great for unproblematic skin types who just want a healthy boost. To make this mask even more calming, try storing it in the fridge. An interesting fact – 88% of the ingredients in this mask are derived from organic farming!

Ingredients:

2 tsp canned pureed pumpkin

1/2 tsp honey

1/4 tsp organic heavy whipping cream

How to:

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl

Cover entire face minus the area directly around your eyes

Leave on for 10 – 15 minutes

Rinse face with warm water

Photo Credit: Dylan Price

This mask is perfect for fall with a therapeutic mix of vitamin A to heal skin and reduce fine lines, cream to moisturize and reduce redness, and honey for an extra dose of moisture and antiseptic properties (great for breakouts). If you’re going to have these ingredients on hand, you might as well make my favorite dessert aka a delicious pumpkin pie too. If you haven’t tried using honey instead of sugar before, I would highly recommend it, but just make sure to decrease the amount of honey (use ¾ cup plus 1 tablespoon honey in place of 1 cup sugar, and reduce the other liquid ingredients by 2 tablespoons).

Natural beauty is always about what we put into our bodies as well as what we put on them so don’t forget to eat lots of delicious fall produce and try out some new beauty treatments with them as well!

Avocados are some serious skin food with their biotin (forms the basis of healthy skin), as well as their skin (and heart) healthy monounsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats help provide skin with a natural oil barrier reducing the occurrence of itchy/dry skin.

To keep skin looking healthy and glowing, include avocados in your diet on a regular basis and also remember that they make a perfect, all natural and inexpensive revitalizing skin treatment. This is a quick and easy recipe that I would recommend for all skin types, but especially for dry or sensitive skin.

Combine:

1/2 mashed avocado

1 tbsp honey

1 tbsp yogurt

How to:

Wash your face with warm water and pat dry

Apply a thin layer of the mask to your entire face minus the eye area

Allow the mask to set for 15 minutes

Rinse thoroughly with warm H20, and again, pat dry — the key word is “pat” NOT “rub”. Rubbing is abrasive and not a good idea when it comes to your delicate face!

This is such a simple mask that is excellent for infusing skin with antioxidants and reducing inflammation.

How to:

Simply combine the contents of one tea bag of green tea with high quality H20 (for normal skin), whole milk (for sensitive/dry skin), or apple cider vinegar (for oily/blemish-prone).

I saved the bag from a cup of green tea I made earlier (love making something even more useful and beneficial!) and I tried it for the first time last night. While it didn’t create as much of a paste as I hoped, it stayed put and definitely seemed to have a positive affect on my skin after leaving it on for just 5 minutes.

I like to do a face mask AT LEAST 1x or 2x per week. When was the last time you did a face mask?

{via}

Since there probably isn’t a woman on the planet who doesn’t cherish small pores, I thought I would mention a quick, natural way to tighten pores…

How to:

Separate the whites from the yoke of 1 organic egg

Tie your hair back if needed

Apply the whites to freshly cleansed skin

Leave on for 10 minutes

Rinse with warm water

So simple, right?! This single ingredient mask should tighten pores and hence make them appear smaller than before!

A really easy, natural mask for dry skin has just one ingredient: avocado.

Simply apply a mashed, ripe avocado to skin once a week. It’s that simple!

You’ll get even more benefits if you eat the leftovers so make some guacamole while you’re mashing or put a few slices on your next salad.

{via}

Another option: apply a tablespoon of olive oil to your face instead of your usual night cream weekly (skip this one if you’re blemish-prone)

{via}

If you’re currently experiencing dry skin, it’s a good idea to get a handle on it now before the cold weather comes in and that healthy glow becomes even more of a challenge!
