It’s really hard to believe that anything involving fish oil could be even a little bit tasty, but this blend by Barlean’s actually tastes like a treat. I know – shocking. Even after going through a couple of bottles, I still can’t believe this is really a fish oil supplement. So not only does this one taste good, but some possible benefits of Omega Swirl include improvement in skin, hair, and nail quality, as well as heart health and hormonal balance. What’s not to like about that list?
Forget those neon colored, artificially flavored sports drinks and switch to coconut water already! The naturally sweet and delicious liquid inside of the well-known tropical treat has 15 times the electrolytes (specifically potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorous) of a typical sports drink! Whether you’re trying to replenish after some serious physical activity or perhaps (hopefully not) recovering from some stomach ills, this is my very highly recommended natural choice. Wondering where to find this splendid beverage? It’s definitely at your nearest health food store, but it’s also quite likely in stock at your local CVS these days. I think the word has definitely gotten out!
Have you looked closely at your showerhead lately? Does it look kind of gross? Well, most likely it’s just the result of hard water (H20 high in mineral content), which isn’t harmful to your health, but it does put a damper on your water flow. In some cases, the grossness might really be gross because it could be bacteria, which is definitely not good for your health!
But no matter the situation, all showerheads should get a cleaning from time to time…
- Simply fill a plastic bag (free of holes) with enough white vinegar (about a pint) to submerge the showerhead
- Submerge the showerhead in the vinegar and secure the bag with a rubberband
- Allow it to soak for a few hours
- Remove the bag
- Turn the shower on for 30 secs or so
- Take a shower that will truly get you clean!
Korres is known for their high quality natural formulations and they did not disappoint with their new line of fragrances. I’ve tried several natural scents before, but none of them have had the complexity and staying power (like conventional perfumes) the way this one does. The name – Pepper Jasmine Gaiac Wood Passion Fruit – is at the center of this natural aroma, but there are also top notes of sandalwood, anise and vanilla, with a base of white chocolate, peach and green hop. Sounds a little sweet yet earthy, not overly feminine or masculine, right? Well it is meant to be a unisex scent and now having tried it out on both my husband and myself, I definitely agree! It can totally work for both men and women, and the scent really lasts. Personally, the box alone was a huge draw for me. I just love the structure, the illustrations and the detailed description of natural ingredients that comprise the scent.
I also recently tried Korres’ new organic skincare line, which I will review very soon!
As my friend was selecting one of Georgetown Cupcake’s infamous delights today, I was admiring this totally lovely and girlie arrangement — yes, that’s a pink pineapple in there. I’m starting to want to stop by regularly not to satisfy a sweet tooth, but just to see the centerpiece of the day!
This foot massager simply looks like a dream to me. The heavenly description: “Like a masseuse and reflexologist in one this chiropractor-designed massager targets every sensitive point on your feet in a sequence based on acupressure principles.” There’s also a heat option. This is definitely on my wish list!

Alaffia makes one of the best natural shampoos and conditioners for people with scalp issues. Their Scalp Recovery shampoo and conditioner combine West African Neem oil (highly antifungal & antibacterial) with African Black Soap (cleansing) and Handcrafted Shea Butter (moisturizing & restorative) to encourage balanced oil production and to discourage flakiness. The scent of the shampoo and conditioner are an earthy, refreshing mix of tea tree, lavender and rosemary (all 3 essential oils also have antibacterial/antifungal properties). A lot of products can be made up entirely of natural ingredients, but there’s few that actually give you a sense that they’re freshly sourced from nature. I love how pure and natural Alaffia products truly are, and I also love their results!
For a long time now, I’ve bought the free & clear versions of well-known dryer sheets to avoid those sometimes pretty yet far from natural scents permeating my clothes. However, I had no idea that these typical brands of dryer sheets although “free & clear” still are likely made with animal fat! That’s pretty gross and also pretty weird.
Recently, I discovered these delightful little sheets by method and after several loads of laundry, I’m definitely a fan. It was never that I didn’t want a nice fragrance on my clean clothes, it’s that I couldn’t find an option of a pleasant, natural scent! Now I found something that leaves my clothes soft, free of static, and smelling like a lovely field of lavender. They’re also reusable, which makes the price ($5) quite nice.
The Garden Collection by H&M is so fresh and so fun. I keep wanting to buy something else from the line because everything is so cute for spring/summer! If the cute factor wasn’t enough the entire line is reasonably priced and made with sustainable materials (like recycled polyester, organic cotton and organic linen). I just had to get these two organic cotton dresses. They were too cute and too incredibly priced — $12.95 each!!
I have a new favorite snack that is so easy, tasty and healthy. A friend gave me the idea for this a while ago (Thanks, Dana!).
- 1 bag organic plain popcorn (An option: Newman’s Own Organics — go for the no salt, no butter variety)
- a really good drizzling of extra virgin olive oil (probably 1 tbs total)
- 1 – 2 tbs of Brewer’s Yeast Powder *not the flakes (Easily found at your local healthfood store. One option: NOW Foods)
- sea salt to taste
- mix it all up
So it’s a combination of fiber + good fat + B-complex vitamins. The Brewer’s Yeast actually makes the popcorn taste a bit cheesy and I’ve found this is my favorite way to take it (much better than adding it to water or juice). I made this last night and I literally could not stop eating it. I love when something so nutritious is also so delicious!
