Naturally Clean: Club Soda

I’m sure you’ve probably heard of using club soda to get out tough stains on fabric (simply pour on club soda and scrub gently), but also try club soda…

  • To clean silver jewelry – place pieces in a glass of club soda and soak overnight
  • To clean glass surfaces
  • In  place of water – fill a spray bottle with club soda and use it to remove dirt more effectively from countertops, etc

  1. really on jewelry? had no idea. do you know if it will work on a wood surface? our island is made of wood and I just don’t know the best way to keep it clean (naturally) . Since we put food directly on that surface I don’t want to use chemicals. Great post!

    1. Hi Naina! Great question. I know that a mix of white vinegar and H2O (specifically 1/4 cup white vinegar and 30 ounces of warm water) works well for wood flooring. Simply, put the mixture in a recycled spray bottle, spray on a cotton rag or towel until lightly damp, then mop your floors, scrubbing away any grime. Perhaps, the same mix would work for your countertops…Unfortunately, I don’t have any wood surfaces to test this out for you, but let me know if you do or maybe someone else has personal experience they can share!

  2. Hey thank you for sharing. Got a tip on how to keep cat hair from clinging to glass tables immediately after cleaning it???

This was so frustrating for me. As soon as I clean my glass tables, I come back in less than a minute and it seems that my cat’s hair is attracted right to the glass!

  3. Club soda is so versatile! The other day I either sat in something yucky or brushed by something and had an icky stain on my bathing suit cover up. When I got home, I rubbed some vinegar and baking soda on it…kept rubbing with water and the stain completely disappeared! Then I tossed it into the dryer to wear. Natural cleaning truly rocks!
