Looking for a cleanser that can take your complexion from dull to luminous in a very short amount of time? If the answer is “yes, please!” then Body Merry has the perfect face wash for you.
The product: Body Merry’s Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser
What it’s good for: Cleaning your face, but in a really thorough kind of way. Body Merry actually recommends not using this face wash daily because of its strength. As they put it, “The ingredients in this product are stronger than your average face wash so we suggest starting out by using it only 1-2 times per week then increase your usage of it from there, based off of how your skin tolerates it.”
My skin is on the dry/sensitive side and I’ve found that using this face wash 1-2 times per week is the perfect frequency. That way I’ve been getting the brightening and cleansing effects minus any dryness or irritation.
Key natural ingredients: There are several awesome natural ingredients to highlight here. Of course this cleanser contains glycolic acid, which is a type of alpha hydroxy acid known to have the smallest molecular size and hence the greatest bioavailability. In other words, it can really get into your pores and clean them out. Next, this cleanser features acne-fighting willowbark which is a natural source of salicylic acid. There are also jojoba beads to help the exfoliation process. But don’t worry, they’re not environmentally unfriendly. These tiny beads are made from jojoba oil.

The price tag: $18.99 (6 fl oz). Not a bad price at all and it will last a long time since you’ll be alternating it with another cleanser.
Where to buy: BodyMerry.com (right now they have free shipping on U.S. orders over $25!)
My favorite perk: This face wash is awesome at unclogging pores and getting rid of dead skin, which is great news for everyone, but especially those of us who struggle with breakout-prone skin.
It’s been a really long time since I was this impressed with a face mask. Plenty of masks can work “well”, but I think a really awesome masks shows you its powers of improvement pretty much immediately.
Earth Science’s Papaya-Glycolic Gentle Skin Peel did just that. I applied it to clean skin, waited until it dried (about 10 minutes), peeled it off and voilà – immediate improvement! As I washed away the remnants of the mask (it didn’t peel off perfectly) I saw that dead skin was also being washed away, my skin was brighter, pores seemed smaller and it didn’t dry out my face at all. I’m in love. This peel really does what you would hope using natural yet truly effective ingredients and it’s super reasonable at about $14.
I really went all out last night because I also did my all time favorite mask – Aztec Indian Healing Clay. If you haven’t tried it before, you MUST. You simply must. You can find it at Whole Foods and it’s only around $6. You have to mix the clay with water (or apple cider vinegar), but there’s really very little effort involved. It works like no other to draw out toxins and purify the skin. It’s also really healing for breakouts. You can actually feel it tightening and pulsating on your face as it dries. I had a friend try it last night for the first time and she was really impressed. She keeps telling me how smooth her skin feels today. I can’t say I’m surprised – I really think this clay just might be the “world’s most powerful facial”.
Have you tried either of these? What’s your favorite face mask?
Here are 10 reasons why you might want to incorporate apple cider vinegar into your diet. My favorite use for ACV is in homemade salad dressings. It’s actually the only vinegar I keep in the house these days. Are you a fan?
Are there any yoga poses that directly target the health of your skin? Yes!

Here is my take on three natural blemish treatments:
- derma e – Very Clear® Spot Blemish Treatment by derma e is such an excellent all-around treatment for problem skin. It has ingredients like tea tree, willow bark, chamomile, lavender and rosewood to fight bacteria while also reducing redness and inflammation. This treatment definitely clears up existin g blemishes and prevents new ones. I really love that this product goes on clear and that you really can’t over do it. No matter how much or how often I put it on, it never left my skin feeling dry. It is truly an excellent breakout treatment for all skin types. I have also been using the Very Clear® Cleansing Scrub, which helps to unclog pores and remove dead skin, making it a perfect precursor to the blemish treatment. The Very Clear® line also has a cleanser and moisturizer if you like using a complete skin care line. This skin-clearing formula costs about $11.50 and is definitely well worth the reasonable price.
- Aubrey Organics – Aubrey Organics Amino Derm Gel Clear Skin Complex has a light and fresh citrus scent and also goes on clear. It has great natural ingredients like burduck, sage, ivy, sea salt and organic lemon peel. This complex successfully dissolves dirt and oil deposits on the skin, leaving pores clean without drying out the skin. It is a great choice for adults with problem skin, as well as teenagers. As with most breakout treatments, the best time to apply this complex is before bed so it can get to work while you get some rest. Aubrey also makes a 3-step skin care line for oily skin, as well as a Natural Herbal Seaclay Mask that is ideal for balancing and purifying oily skin. Aubrey Organics makes skin care lines for normal, dry, and sensitive skin. The Clear Skin Complex can be used in combination with any of the lines and it only costs about $7.95 for a 2 oz tube.
- Burt’s Bees – Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick has a rolling applicator, which applies the liquid treatment directly and easily to the skin. This treatment is completely clear so it can even be applied under makeup. I would suggest this blemish treatment to people with oily skin rather than dry skin since it contains alcohol (from yellow corn). Some of the therapeutic ingredients include tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, and fennel oil, which is the overriding scent of the treatment. I do have to warn that this treatment can sometimes burn or tingle a little bit, but my skin did not show any signs of irritation after the initial application. However, both the derma e and Aubrey treatments gave me more obvious improvements in problem areas within one night of use. Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick retails for about $8.50.
No matter what blemish treatment you choose, it’s always best to go natural because these treatments are less harsh and use a more holistic approach. Also, remember to leave blemishes alone as much as possible! Easier said than done, but please resist the attempt to be your own personal esthetician and put one of these natural blemish treatments on instead!
